Everyone who has met Trouble has made nearly the same
series of comments….”what an incredible
personality”, “he is so sweet”, “what
a noble animal”, “he is so fair with the
other horses”, “he just loves to be near
people”…HE’S A STALLION??? At this
point, the person’s jaw drops, their eyes get
like saucers and then in about 10-15 seconds, they are
back to hugging the ferocious beast that we call Trouble.
He is the most majestic, gentle spirited Stallion that
I have ever worked with. I met him while doing a photo
shoot in Montana for the German-language training manual
entitled “A Horse is A Horse.” I was on
location for 1 day only and was faced with doing training
photos for the entire manual. The horse that the photographer
had arranged was dirty, misbehaved and incorrigible
in the round pen…and the only horse on property
that was available for the photo session…except
for a small band of range-bred curlies on a hill about
1⁄2 mile away. To make a long story short, I walked
out to the band, approached a line-back dun mare (or
so I thought until I got her/him into the round pen)
gently held on to the horses mane and led her down to
the round pen. I learned shortly thereafter that I had
just pulled a three yr. old stallion from a group of
four mares, walked him into the round pen by the mane
and started the photo session. With this horse, I did
round pen work, sacking out, saddling, over and under
tarps, trailer loading, bareback riding and every other
exercise that is pictured in the German book…In
about 6 hours. Trouble never argued, never balked, never
threw a temper tantrum or got aggressive…not once.
He has lived with me for 4 years and I have only ever
seen him frustrated once or twice. Out of my small herd,
This Hypo-Allergenic “un-broke stallion”
( I never did have to “break” or “gentle”
this horse) is the horse that I trust most to put children
on.Trouble has a wonderful slow canter and a smooth
trot. For the Curly enthusiast, he is of the Warrior
line and is the spitting image of his dad.
