Ground Course
This is a 2-day course and is limited to 12 horse and rider teams. Students will learn ground exercises such as controlling forward movement, gait control, changing direction, the outside turn, the inside turn, working outside of the round pen, and overcoming obstacles. These exercises are essential to gaining your horses trust and respect and give students a completely new understanding of their horses motivations and attitudes.
HTP1 also includes a mini course on stretches for horse and rider.
Although students and their horses perform the exercises in one of the three classrooms (round pens), a good portion of their education comes from interacting with other students and their horses. Students are divided into three teams and each team is then assigned to a classroom. Sessions in the classroom last for 15 minutes followed by 15 minutes of "cooling off" and 30 minutes of coaching. Students are required to "coach" the other students in their classroom while they are not actively working with their horse.
HTP1 is held on Saturday and Sunday and students are in class for 3 hours before lunch and 3 hours after lunch. By the end of the course, each student will have participated in not less than 12, fifteen minute sessions, taught exclusively by GaWaNi Pony Boy.
