Spring/Summer 2005
Kudos! In its first week on the shelves at Tractor Supply
Company - Women & Horses Magazine has outperformed
every other title available. Women & Horses Magazine
was the best selling title in all 500 stores! Spring
and summer is the time for new growth and new ideas.....in
the spirit of spring, this new magazine has become a
bright star on the equestrian horizon - not just any
magazine, but the only one of its kind. GaWaNi Pony
Boy, Executive Editor says it best: "Women &
Horses Magazine is the world's only magazine devoted
exclusively to horse women, their needs and interests.
Women & Horses Magazine celebrates the special bond
that so many women enjoy with their horses. A
Woman's love of horses is reflected in many aspects
of her life -work, home, family and friends.
Through a better human-horse relationship, Women
& Horses Magazine provides balance and insight
into these important areas in all our lives." Click

Thinking of fall......the amazing colors of changing
leaves, cooler temperatures, apple cider and pumpkins,
hurricanes - hurricane's? Well at least in Florida
we were welcoming in fall with several, first there
was Charlie.....Pony was conveniently absent from the
su nshine state at a Horses Teaching People Course in
Michigan, and a fabulous Course it was! Folks from Michigan
have been contacting our offices constantly for the
past several years - When is he coming to Michigan?!
The HTP Course was hosted by Patricia DeMeyer who did
an incredible job, and sent us some incredible photos
from the training sessions during the weekend. Thanks
to all the folks who came out as auditors, and here's
a photos of the students who attended.
Then c ame Frances the Enormous. Pony managed to be
roaming around the streets of St. Augustine during the
storm with his son Blaise and his friend, local surfer
Shane. Here's a photo taken by a local fan who spotted
Pony during the storm - thanks to Irma Mahm for sending
this in!

| July 2004
July was a very busy month, Horses
Teaching People Courses were held in Maryland, Connecticut,
and New York which was sponsored by Triple
Crow n Feeds. A special appearance was made by the
horse that portrayed Seabiscuit in the popular movie,
and Pony worked with him in an evening demonstration.
The Maryland and Connecticut Courses were HTP - 2, the
riding course, and everybody had an incredible time
and learned lots about their horses! To read praise
from participants, be sure to visit the new Team
Pony Boy Message Board.
Between several of his Courses, Pony managed to take
time for a backpacking trip, most was on the Appalachian
Trail through CT and MA, and then headed over the Adirondacks
for a few days to hike some favorite spots before heading
to the clinic in Elmira, NY.

GaWaNi
Pony Boy has been featured in a new book titled Top
Horse Training Methods Explored by Anne Wilson on David
& Charles Press, you can purchase
one here
This lovely book reviews other horse training methods
as well, such as Monty Roberts, Sylvia Loch, Kelly Marks,
Richard Maxwell, Pat Parelli, Linda Tellington-Jones
and Sylvia Stanier.
What the book says about Pony's methods....:" definite
similarities to the teachings of the great classical
masters..."
...."I was impressed by the common sense interpretation
and way of dealing with the horse, without the use of
either force or any kind of threat, but simply positive
reinforcement...."

Pony's
horse Copy (Patchy's Hot Copy) graciously stepped into
the beautiful pasture for blind horses at Mill Creek
Farm in Alachua, Florida. These folks are incredible,
and have been providing a place where abused, abandoned
or retired horses can live out their lives in security,
love and comfort. A place they never leave, even in
death, since they are laid to rest in the "Field of
Dreams" when they die. The land there can never be developed.
The oaks will stand, the grass won't be paved, the creek
won't be diverted and the wildlife will not be driven
out of a natural safe haven.
Copy has unique history; for those of you who own a
copy of The Encyclopedia of the Horse, you can see Copy
in all his glory in the Appaloosa chapter, his rider
and he are dressed in Native regalia. He spent many
years as a teacher at The Kentucky Horse Park, and came
to be with Pony while he was at Equitana in Louisville,
KY. He has been in the ribbons until earlier this year,
as his sight is now gone, except for a few shadows.....
Pony's daughter Riana and Copy were dear friends, and
she will miss him terribly. Please visit their website
and say hello, they are terrific folks and Pony would
appreciate you stopping by their website to say hello,
as well as any support you can give for the care of
an elderly horse! |
